- Rhebo becomes Trusted IDS Partner of PSI Software AG
- OT monitoring with anomaly detection secures communication of PSI network control systems in the core zone
- Cooperation enables safeguarding in accordance with IT Security Act 2.0
Leipzig/Berlin, February 28, 2023 - German industrial cybersecurity provider Rhebo GmbH and Germany's largest provider of control systems PSI Software AG sign a cooperation agreement to increase the cybersecurity of critical infrastructures. Rhebo will exclusively secure PSI control systems in the core zone via OT monitoring with anomaly detection as a Trusted IDS Partner. The cooperation enables PSI customers from the industrial and critical infrastructure sectors (especially energy supply) to also closely monitor the core zone, which is heavily segmented from the rest of the Operational Technology, and to protect it from disruptions caused by cyber incidents.
»The PSI core zone forms the heart of every PSI control system," explains Wolfgang Fischer, PSI Business Unit Manager Electrical Energy. "It is managed as a high-security zone within the Operational Technology of industrial companies, to which only PSI personnel have access. With Rhebo, we are bringing an experienced partner on board who meets our high standards of trustworthiness and quality with OT Security Made in Germany«.
PSI customers now have the option of using Rhebo Industrial Protector to secure the core zone. This was previously only secured by a firewall. Rhebo's OT monitoring solution with anomaly detection monitors all communication that takes place within the PSI core zone in addition to the general operational technology (OT, e.g. network control technology, telecontrol technology, control technology). Deviations from the expected pattern are detected in real time and reported to the security officers. This allows cyber incidents that indicate compromise or misconduct of the control system core zone to be detected early and remedied immediately. PSI accompanies its customers during the implementation of the rhebo solution and ensures the individual adaptation of PSIcontrol so that any adaptations on the control system side and other aspects, e.g., appropriately adapted documentation, are created.
"Rhebo is already a firmly established, reliable tool for industrial cyber security in many control systems of energy supply companies," explains Rhebo CEO Klaus Mochalski. "The IT Security Act, which was updated two years ago, and the BSI recommendation for action on the use of attack detection systems call for holistic protection of critical infrastructure, which of course also includes the particularly sensitive core zones. We are proud to have been selected by PSI as a Trusted IDS Partner for protection in accordance with the IT Security Act"..
The PSI Group develops its own software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities (energy networks, energy trading, public transport) and industry (metal production, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics). The industry products, which are built from standard components, are sold both directly and via the multicloud-capable PSI App Store and can also be customized by customers and partners themselves. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs over 2,200 people worldwide. www.psi.de
