Industry 4.0 and Big Data

Industry 4.0 describes the connection of industrial production assets with modern IT and communication technologies. The aim is a self-organised production with humans, machines, logistics and products seamlessly communicating with each other to enable a more flexible and efficient production. The realization of this organizational concept is based on big data strategies which extract, integrate and congregate the various data packets for decision making as well as further facilitation. In this context monitoring and analytical tools (e.g. Deep Packet Inspection technology) as well as integration and gateway tools (e.g. semantic technologies) are applied.
