  • InfraServ Gendorf sees anomaly detection Rhebo Industrial Protector as an important element for safeguarding industrial networks in the chemical and process industry

Leipzig/Burgkirchen, Germany, October 23, 2018 - InfraServ Gendorf, german chemical park operator and expert for integrated solutions, and technology company Rhebo have agreed a close cooperation in the field of industrial network security in companies of the chemical and process industry.

Cyber attacks, downtimes, internal perpetrators - these alarm words do not originate from an agent thriller, but are unfortunately reality in industry. The further development to the Internet of Things and to Industry 4.0 holds great opportunities for manufacturing companies, while at the same time increased precautions must be taken when securing digital systems against cyber attacks. As an expert company for the chemical and process industry, InfraServ Gendorf therefore offers security solutions for various levels and aspects of the corporate IT infrastructure.

With the anomaly detection Rhebo Industrial Protector, the infrastructure and security solution provider is specifically expanding its portfolio in the area of industrial IT solutions in order to detect and avoid cyber attacks and technical problems in the control technology of industrial customers at an early stage. For the experts, the solution is an important component tailored to the special requirements of industrial infrastructures in order to guarantee process stability, product quality and overall plant availability in highly networked industrial environments.

Detecting anomalies in processes at an early stage

»The increasing complexity of production-IT and the degree of digitization determine the future viability of a company. It is therefore all the more important that the digitized infrastructure in production facilities is protected against technical disruptions, fluctuations in efficiency and cyber attacks«, emphasizes Dr. Günter Bartnitzky, Head of IT Services at InfraServ Gendorf. Industry 4.0 cannot be thought of without cyber security, but this is precisely where the sensitivity of most companies is not yet particularly pronounced, says Bartnitzky: »With Rhebo Industrial Protector, we can now offer our customers an effective solution that reports hidden attacks, malfunctions as well as network and communication errors within the control technology without interfering with the production processes.«

Klaus Mochalski, CEO of Rhebo, sees great potential in the partnership between his company and InfraServ Gendorf: »With InfraServ Gendorf, we are pleased to have gained a partner with almost 80 years of experience in the chemical and process industry. In the process industry in particular, unplanned downtimes due to malfunctions in the PLS (process control system) can become very costly. The ARC Advisory Group, for example, speaks of costs and losses of US$ 22,000 per minute in the pharmaceutical industry. This makes it all the more important for companies in the chemical and process industries to identify potential failures in the PLS before they cause damage. Rhebo Industrial Protector helps companies prevent those threats by providing industrial anomaly detection that continuously analyzes all communication within the control system, reporting potential threats in real-time, and providing all the information needed to immediately perform forensic analysis.«
