- Rhebo and INSYS icom join forces for secure and stable data communications in industrial networks
- Anomaly detection Rhebo Industrial Protector monitors all network communication as a virtual machine on the high-performance routers from INSYS icom.
- TÜV Rheinland study confirms acute need for industrial network monitoring
Leipzig/Regensburg, Germany, Feb. 12, 2019 - The industrial router manufacturer INSYS icom and the network security company Rhebo have joined forces to offer their industrial customers a broader portfolio for cyber security and network stability. Both companies have agreed on a close partnership. Users of the high-performance industrial routers from INSYS icom will be able to integrate the industrial anomaly detection Rhebo Industrial Protector on their devices - and thus establish comprehensive monitoring of the security and performance of their industrial control systems.
Operators of OT (Operational Technology) networks in industry 4.0 companies and critical infrastructure benefit from:
- the well-known secure data communication and flexible data acquisition and processing with routers from INSYS icom;
- the lean, cost-efficient integration of network monitoring into their existing OT infrastructure;
- a seamless real-time reporting of communication processes that indicate security problems or technical error states;
- a fast analysis of disruptions through detailed incident documentation;
- comprehensive transparency of all processes and assets in the OT network;
- the security of their processes - from data connections within their networks to remote maintenance processes to condition monitoring.
80 % of all industrial plants to date are severely at risk
The need for integrated security and monitoring solutions is growing, as the study »Industrial Security in 2019: A TÜV Rheinland Perspective« published by TÜV Rheinland in early 2019 suggests. According to the study, only 26% of all companies surveyed have so far investigated the risks posed by cyber attacks on their industrial control systems. Only 20% of the companies had implemented cyber security measures specially tailored to their systems. In many cases, lack of risk awareness and lack of network transparency are the reasons for this result, which is in extreme discrepancy to the current threat situation. Hackers are increasingly targeting industrial plants, as TÜV Rheinland notes.
Wolfgang Wanner, Senior Manager for Sales & Business Development at INSYS icom:
»The increasing networking OT infrastructure requires continuous network monitoring with anomaly detection. Only this way operators can reliably detect unknown and hidden security incidents as well as technical error states in addition to already known attack patterns. The integration of Rhebo Industrial Protector as a virtual machine on our routers offers our customers exactly this comprehensive visibility and early warning function. Operators of industrial networks appreciate the routers from INSYS icom for a secure and powerful data connection and processing. With Rhebo, we have found a partner who reliably complements our value proposition with the increasingly important aspect of network security and stability«.
Rhebo Industrial Protector closes the transparency gap in networked industrial environments on routers from INSYS icom. Anomaly detection monitors communication within the industrial control system and analyzes it at content level. Processes that deviate from the usual, approved pattern are reported to the security officers in real-time with all details. This enables operators to react immediately to possible interruptions in the network and initiate countermeasures before production or supply are affected.
Klaus Mochalski, CEO Rhebo:
»We are pleased to be a partner in the Excellence-in-M2M program of INSYS icom. In industrial companies and critical infrastructures in the energy and water industry, INSYS icom is known for its high-quality, high-performance components. The integration of our industrial anomaly detection Rhebo Industrial Protector on routers from INSYS icom allows operators to monitor M2M and IIoT communication at the relevant points in their OT network. The operators of industrial networks thus benefit from a strengthening of their cyber security and network stability without additional installation effort«.
